democrisis

wanted to use the following script for a stand-up actually, but.. since the age for such current-events-related jokes is so short..., guess i will have no more opportunity to do this joke anymore. So i'm just putting this down on record before it gets thrown away... Now, reading it back, it seems more suited for written comedy instead.. - another reason why i'm putting this down in "words" instead.

It has now finally been confirmed - an official statement has been made: Singapore's prescribed solution for political stability and vitality is to keep the reins of control all within the same party. Or in this case, family. They call this process, political self-renewal. I think you can understand why - once you see that it's a propagation of your own genes that we are talking about here. I think we should probably call this the "one dick for all the nation's needs" solution. I am finally able to say with all sincerity and truth (the official statement backing me), that Singapore is a democrisis.

*Note: the inspiration for this little joke here came from this article.

Now what i dont understand here is, how can "keep our systems of political self-renewal going" be antithetical to "The political forces diverge and politicians over there, in order to get elected, will try to harness the different forces in society"? (read the whole article to be sure.) That's like saying... the solution to democracy is a... one-party solution that... (ohh, but waaaait a minute...)??? Even worse, is the presupposed subtle statement behind that statement itself...

(*BIG BAT CLUE for anybody who might be thinking of suing me after reading this blog entry: LiGHTEN.. UUUUP!!!. And if u should still hold on to ur antiquated opinion in this post-modern world of information liberalization and internet empowerment... - pls kindly go talk to Amnesty International, thank you.)

political jokes not for u? well ok - dont stay around here then.

I'm not too sure about the white-on-black being bad actually - but we'll see what happens. Thank you for the feedback on the colour scheme. Since i live in singapore and follow my leaders... I will acknowledge ur feedback, and thank you for it - but not do anything about it.
